“End of the Line”
Leaving Arlington Heights was, well, interesting. First, it was sunny (we had almost forgot what that looked like); then, it was cloudy (had lots of experience with it); and lastly, came rain (yeah, we know all about that). By now, though, we knew exactly where the wiper switch was.

The Chicago metro area’s rush hour extends far past our 9:00 a.m. departure, so we were glad to finally see

for a couple of reasons the traffic was behind, and it was the last state we would visit. Unfortunately, our old nemesis, Mr. Crummy Weather, caught-up with us. He even brought his sister, Miss Foggy Bottoms.

Ever seen a “Baby on Board” sign? How about “Baby in Front Seat in Bad Weather” sign?
Yep, that’s a two-year old standing against the center of the dash. I’m glad nothing happened.

Driving through Milwaukee, one of the Tourers in a cherry 428 Mustang met up with the center divider. The front end was more than a little worse for wear. The ’59 took the opportunity to get a police escort through the ensuing traffic jam and the rest of the way out of town.

For lunch, we stopped at Imagine Motorsports. They’ve built some pretty radical rides, like a ’57 Chevy Bel Air convertible with eight turbochargers on it. Don’t believe me? Just take a look.

Even with a little boost, it makes lots of power.

In addition to their car-building, they own a few nice cars, too. This is the “hockey-stick” decal off a 9,000 actual-mile stripper Hemi ’Cuda.

The rest of the car looked that good, too. And, for the Chevrolet fans, how about a ’69 Chevelle Yenko?

After checking out the cars, we checked out lunch a spectacular feast served by the employees. The crowd was loving it.
After a little rest, it was back on the road to Green Bay and Lambeau Field.

As usual, we clogged-up the exit,

but finally made it into downtown Green Bay. Smart persons we are, we stopped by the hotel to check-in first, and found Hot Rod employees energetically engaged in cleaning the Cheap Street Chevelle giveaway car.

Then, we headed for the final Tour stop. It was easy to find our trailer just look for the great graphics.

Built by Exiss, up close you can see signs of our involvement with the “Rides” and “Overhaulin’” shows on TLC, along with Foose Design and Rad Rides by Troy.

Right down the aisle was a ’50s F-100 Ford pick-up that had great paint.

But, things were amiss under the bonnet. That’s a new 5.7L Chrysler Hemi under the hood, not a Ford motor.
Oh, the agony!

Walking the lot, there were plenty of cool rides:
A first-generation Firebird with late-model drivetrain,

a rare early ’60s Studebaker Lark Daytona convertible,

and not too far away, another Daytona. This one was made by Dodge, though.

Which Daytona would you rather drive?

Here’s a Super Bee

that held court near a GT 500 Shelby.
There’s no replacement for displacement.

In the “I’ve got more carbs than you” department, Pontiac usually wins with their Tri-Power setup.

All the walking made us hungry, so we stopped by for a quick bite.

“Brats” seem to be the hot ticket for this part of the world. No one I spoke to could name the source for the meat, but there were several clues about.

How many brats do you think a crowd like this could consume?

Not everyone was a carnivore, though. Some preferred dairy products.
Yep, a genuine cheesehead.
At 7:00 p.m., I made my last trip to the stage to present our daily prize with Doc Reilly. By 7:30 p.m. we were done and I was heading back to write the day’s coverage. Once again, I wasn’t the winner of the giveaway car. Maybe next year.
Tomorrow I’ll finish up my thoughts for the Tour, and offer thoughts of the fun, frivoloty and fame we endured. Ten years of fun in the name of work.
You couldn’t ask for more.
Your humble and obedient servant,
Forrest Tosie
