Epilogue
“No Place to Hide”
Now, the rest of the story can be told.
As you may have guessed, at times things were less than, um, perfect.
The best-laid plans of mice, and all that stuff.
Some examples of our agony:
- No washcloths in the hotel room. The front desk’s response, “You know, you’re not the first person to tell me that.” (Well, duh!)
- High-speed Internet going down. (Of course, it happened at 12:15 a.m., on a night with 215 MB of pix to upload.) I finally got the pix uploaded at 4:30 a.m., and slept in the car for a few minutes.
- Pillows softer than cotton candy, and stickier, too. (No explanation needed.)
The list goes on and on, as any story should. It’s what makes the Power Tour so, well, personal.
There are advantages to getting up on stage every night, to be ridiculed by Doc and the Tourers. It’s nice to be recognized by Tour folks when you’re nowhere near the stage, and it actually proves people pay atttention. Now I know how Titus feels when he walks into a restaurant and people call out his name.

|
Example: Today we left Green Bay and started our trip back. On a whim, we stopped at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc to take a tour of a WW II submarine.
|
In the parking lot, I heard my name being called.
You can run, but you can’t hide.
I’ll have to remember that the next time I plan some nefarious activity.
For ten years we’ve been Power Touring, and after all that time we’ve finally learned a few things to make our lives better.

|
|
Like the new Exiss trailer more room, a generator to power lights, a winch to pull the car in (all the better to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning) and a bigger billboard for better graphics.
|

|
|
Also, I can’t believe how much easier it was to work with our products, now that they’re in these killer carts from Rugged Buddy. They look great with polished aluminum diamond plate, and have wheels to make move-in and move-out easier.

How did we ever survive without them?
|
The most common question I heard?
“What’s the route next year?”
Think about this? If I can’t predict the weather for the next 12 hours, how can you expect me to predict where the Power Tour will go in 2005?
I can only assure you the route will be in the United States, and will involve “interesting” sites that only a person with a slightly twisted sense of humor can find joy in. And unpredictable weather. And traffic jams.
If you recognize that person on the street, say hi. Or, wait until next year’s Tour.
Because you know I’ll be there.
Your humble and obedient servant,
Forrest Tosie
