Power Tour 2007
Epilogue

“The Final Words”

You know, being gone for two weeks involves lots of folks — understanding families, supportive coworkers, and an untold multitude of fine folks you meet along the way. None of this would have been possible without them.

A special thanks goes out to those companies who let me be the guinea pig for their new PT Cruiser parts. They’re the ones who helped put the Personal Transportation in our PTC. On the plus side, though, it means you’ll be able to buy good quality lowering springs (Eibach), adjustable struts (Koni), killer billet wheels (Intro), a car cover that actually fits (Covercraft), a dual exhaust that sounds oh-so cool (Borla) and an airfilter that’s reusable (K&N). And those tires (Toyo) — if they can stand up to the potholes we found, they’ll work great for you.

After seeing how it turned out, Metalcrafters/TGF will be offering the trick air dam and rear spoiler for sale soon. Word is they may even offer a smoothed and pre-painted bumper on an exchange program, too.

So, good things DO happen for those who wait. While 99% of the Power Tour was fun, there were a few sour points — little things like getting stopped by the CHP. We survived it okay, though. And, those pesky ol’ directions (East. West. It’s all the same, right?). It just made our travels more entertaining.

Hot Rod Magazine may be forced to introduce an IQ test as part of the entry form, though. The parking garage burnouts, while fun to watch, can be dangerous in such close quarters. And folks like our personal stalker, “Mr. X” from Iowa, need to be examined carefully. Imagine having your tricked out, ultraclean car squirted with a watergun on a 100° day — those waterspots took over two hours of work to properly remove without damaging the paint.

The sad part is, he thought it was funny.

It’s time to head back where we came from, and return to a life of normalcy.

But, have no fear. We’ll be back next year with something else equally outrageous to drive. We’ll even have a restraining order to protect us from those stalkers.
