8:00 am. We have breakfast at the Outlaw Restaurant in Parachute, Colorado. There’s a sign at the register that says, “Cooking so Good Your
Momma Will Cry.” Strange, but when I was growing up, my Mom’s cooking was so bad the children would cry.

Some of the best Power Tour watching happens on the bridges along the route. In Parachute we join some fellow hot rod fans as they watch the parade go by.

After seeing how the other side lives, we jump in our Olds 442 and punch it.

To our right, the headwaters of the Colorado River.

The ever vigilant (or is that virulent?) GM Motor Medic.

Uh oh. Time for the allways appreciated “Honk of Shame.” Gary proves that he can give as good as he gets.

Lewis and Elsi Walck, their two children Jonathan and Emily, and their 1968 Chevy truck (well mostly ’68 according to Lewis).

It’s the Gary and Jack show.

A little Colorado color.

The clever pioneers who named “No Name” had an uncanny grasp of the obvious.

As the canyon narrows, the cars begin to pack in tight.

With veteran Hot Rod Magazine editor Ro McGonegal driving, Scott Killeen prepares to shoot the Olds 442 for their upcoming Power Tour coverage.

Lincoln and copilot Chris in their 1987 Buick Grand National. They traveled all the way from Albuquerque, New Mexico to be part of the Power Tour.

Crossing the continental divide, we emerge from the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Bandimere Speedway, Morrison, Colorado. We locate our East Coast Sales Vice President, Forrest Tosie. He’s showing a dedicated
Mothers® fan how to use Sealer and Glaze AND prominently display the Mothers®
label all at the same time.

Four really nice outhouses too bad all those Vipers are blocking the view.

1973 Cadillac (Forrest calls it “aesthetically challenged”).

Bandimere Speedway is built into the side of hill overlooking Denver. Straight ahead, the Power Tour Cruise Night Party. To the left and down the hill,
the dragstrip.

A peek under the Vette’s hood.

”Could someone please give me a hand with this trunk?”

We end the day with open drags down the Bandimere track.

For myself, the Power Tour is over. Tomorrow I board a plane home while Forrest takes over the Power Tour coverage. No longer will you have to endure my
aimless meandering prose instead you’ll have to endure Forrest’s aimless meandering prose.
Still our writing styles are very different. Here’s a sample of how Forrest writes:
“7:00 am. Got up. Picked lint from between toes. Daydreamed of my Way Cool Mothers® Vortech Mustang.
Put pants on. Damn. They’re on backwards. Good thing I have a Way Cool Mothers® Vortech Mustang.
Major binding, but in all the right places. Feels good. Guess I won’t bother turning them around. Did I mention I have a Way Cool
Mothers® Vortech Mustang?”
