Sunday, May 11

8:30 am. Jim Savas covers the usual list of do’s and don’ts for this Sunday’s cruise. Just once, I’d like to see him use the
driver’s meeting for something more constructive like open-mic Karaoke.

One’s thoughts often wander while listening to the driver’s meeting. If you’re lucky, your body will take the hint and follow along.
On this particular morning my mind, as well as my body, wandered down the lot and found these two extremely nice roadsters: a Plymouth (on the left) and a Ford.

Also on display was this ’69 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible owned by Chris Healy of Denver, Colorado.

9:00 am. The Mothers® ’63 Nova is back in business. The purr of the Nova’s finely tuned exhaust
is a welcome and reassuring sound. Finally we can sit back and enjoy the drive.

A red blur speeds by on our right. It’s Centerforce’s Ford Mustang. I start chanting my favorite mantra: “SEE the blur, FEEL the blur,
BE the blur... SEE the blur, FEEL the blur, BE the blur...”

The early morning shadows, rugged mountain terrain and smooth lines of this classic Corvette all combined for the perfect photo opportunity.

12:00 noon. At close to 10,000 feet above sea level, we start to see some serious snow pack.

At this extreme altitude, the rarefied air makes rejetting the carburetor an appealing option.

The Eisenhower tunnel is a well known landmark for anyone who’s crossed the Continental Divide via Denver.

4:00 pm. We arrive at the night stop in Denver. Forrest Tosie, our beloved east coast VP, is waiting for us in his supercharged “Way Cool Mothers®
Vortech Mustang.” He brags how his recently installed Saleen/Racecraft suspension will handle anything the Tour can dish out.

One of the rarest cars to make an appearance at the Denver stop was this 1989 short wheel base Thunderbird. These cars were shortened 8” at the C-pillar.
This Ford is one of only four in existence.

A ’62 Nova SS with a big block engine and nitrous boost.

This immaculate Ford Galaxie convertible was one of the nicest looking classic cars at the stop.
11:00 pm. For the first time in three days I’m actually going to get a full night’s sleep. Could this be the beginning of a kinder, gentler Power
Tour for your’s truly or is this simply the eye of the storm? Dial us up tomorrow and find out in the next chapter of the Mothers®
Power Tour saga.
